Motorcycle Driver Dies of Injuries in Head-On Collision

Farmington Hills police said David Allen Johnson, 60, of Commerce Township, wasn't wearing a helmet in Thursday collision. He died Saturday.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI – A 60-year-old man whose motorcycle crashed head-on with a passenger vehicle last week died of his injuries on Saturday, May 14, Farmington Hills police said.

The accident that claimed the life of David Allen Johnson, of Commerce Township, occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, on Crestview Court north of Grand River.

The driver of a 2007 Jeep Cherokee was making a left-hand turn when the collision occurred. The drive of the Cherokee, a man from Detroit, wasn't injured. He was alone in his vehicle.

Police said in a news release that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Johnson, who was not wearing a helmet, was treated at the scene of the accident by emergency responders with the Farmington Hills Fire Department, then transported to Beaumont Hospital – Farmington Hills, where he died two days later.
