New Applications Must Be Filed for Free, Reduced Lunches

The grace period ends Friday, Oct. 9, for students who have not submitted new applications for free and reduced-price lunches.

Farmington Public Schools is reminding parents that applications must be submitted annually for students to receive free or reduced meals at the district’s attendance centers.

Even if children qualified last year, new applications must be submitted, the school said. The grace period ends Friday, Oct. 9. If no new application is received, students’ accounts will revert to full pay and parents and guardians will be responsible for any future meal purchases.

The district has streamlined the application process online. Go to www.farmington.k12.mi.us/ and under “quick links, click “nutrition services,” then ‘free and reduced application.”

The district will process applications in the order received. It may take up to 10 days to process them.

Parents who have already received notification of approval from the district’s nutrition services department for the current school year do not need to submit another application.
