LIVONIA, MI — A Southfield man is recovering after he was hit by a car Saturday while running across Interstate 96 in metro Detroit, according to police.

The incident happened at 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon on the freeway near Merriman Road in Livonia, according to police.

Police said the 30-yard-old Southfield man was running across Interstate 96 when he was struck by a car.

Officials took him to the hospital where he regained a pulse and was receiving medical treatment, according to police.

Police did not release the extent of the man's injuries and do not know why he was running across the freeway.
