Oakland County Woman Fatally Shoots Boyfriend, Brother: Officials

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, MI — Officials are looking for a woman who they said fatally shot her boyfriend and her brother at an Independence Township apartment complex Sunday, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.

Police identified the suspect as Ruby Taverner, 22, who is white with purple hair and a thin build, and is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and around 115 pounds, officials said.

Police said Taverner, who was formerly known as Martin Taverner, is armed and dangerous, and people should not approach her. She has three weapons registered to her — two 9 mm handguns and a .38-caliber handgun, officials said.

"Our Fugitive Apprehension Team, other Detectives and assets are actively looking for this homicide suspect who we believe is armed and dangerous," Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. "Please contact 911 if you see her or know of her whereabouts."

Officers said they found Ray Muscat, 26, who was formerly known as Amber Muscat, and Bishop Taverner, 25, dead in an apartment room at the Independence Square Apartments at 5901 Dixie Highway at 3:20 a.m. Sunday.

Officers believe Ruby Taverner fled the apartment on foot after fatally shooting the two inside the apartment room, since police found her vehicle and her cell phone at the complex, officials said.

Ruby Taverner and Ray Muscat were in a relationship together and were living in the apartment room together, officials said. Police do not know a motive for the shooting or how long Taverner and Muscat were in a relationship together.
