Police Find Woman Dead On I-696 In Farmington Hills: Officials

Police believe the woman took her own life after a preliminary investigation revealed she was not hit by a car.

FARMINGTON HILLS, MI β€” A woman was found dead Wednesday morning on westbound Interstate 696, near the exit ramp for southbound Interstate 275 on the Farmington Hills/Novi border, Michigan State Police said.

Troopers said they found the woman dead at 3:55 a.m. in the right lane on Interstate 696 underneath the southbound Interstate 275 overpass with a vehicle directly above her.

Police believe the woman took her own life after a preliminary investigation revealed she was not hit by a car, officials said. Troopers also said injuries to her body were also consistent with a suicide.

Police also determined there were no witnesses who could explain what happened to the woman, officials said.

Troopers were working to identify her next of kin, officials said.

All westbound lanes on Interstate 696 were closed until 6:56 a.m. while police were investigating. The freeway has reopened to traffic.
