Sarian Brings Family Jewelry Business to Downtown Farmington

Open since November, Sarian Jewelry Gallery offers custom designs and well-known brands.

For Garo Sarian, running a jewelry store in downtown Farmington continues a family tradition.

The Orchard Lake resident said his family has been in the business for 31 years, and Sarian Jewelry Gallery is their second store. The first, in Southfield, was like a second home as Sarian was growing up.

"I was pretty much born into the business," he said. "I've got gold running through my blood."

Sarian Jewelry Gallery opened Nov. 1, offering "mid- to high-fashion" jewelry from well-known designers including Chamilia, Rebecca and bridal designer Chad Allison. Glass display cases feature Bulova, ESQ and Jorg Gray watches.

The store also creates custom designs and can repair jewelry. Sarian said much of the work is actually done at the family's Southfield store, where the right tools and equipment are available.

"The smaller repairs, we do on-site," he added. "Our turnaround time is very quick." He said the company's repair and custom-design prices are very reasonable because it has "eliminated the middle man."

The Sarian family decided to locate in downtown Farmington after coming to community events and seeing how the downtown business district is promoted.

"It's a nice, little community, and the location is excellent," Sarian said. "It's a nice area, nice people."

The store is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Wednesday; 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday-Friday; and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. For more information, call 248-474-4760 or visit sarianjewelrygallery.com.
