Teen Drowns In Oakland County Lake: Sheriff

MILFORD, MI — A teenager drowned in a Milford lake over the weekend, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

The incident happened at Sears Lake, which is in the area of West Commerce and Hickory Ridge roads in Milford Township, officials said.

Joshua David Auxier, 18, from Fountain City, Indiana, was trying to reach a floating swimming platform about 25 feet from the shoreline when he went underwater and did not resurface shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday.

Oakland County divers found Auxier in about 15 feet of water. He was taken to the shore where officials performed CPR but was unsuccessful, officials said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

An autopsy at the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday determined the cause of death was accidental drowning.
