Tickets Turn Ducks into Prizes

The 7th annual Rubber Duck Race raises funds for local nonprofits.

We're just a little more than a month away from the 7th annual Rubber Duck Race, sponsored by the .

The event starts in in Farmington on Sunday, July 17, at 3 p.m. Participants purchase tickets, which correspond to hundreds of rubber ducks that will be launched into the Rouge River branch. The ducks float east to a finish line, where they are plucked out of the water and winners identified.

is providing the first prize for the race, $50 worth of groceries every week for a year. Additional prizes include monthly overnight stays for a year at the ; a fitness package from Mid America Studios, and the ; a Downtown Farmington package and more.

Community non-profit organizations can join forces with the Foundation as Duck Race Partners. For every $5 ticket sold, the organization will receive $2.50. Partners have included the AAUW, Farmington Garden Club, Friends of the Library, North Farmington Cheerleaders, several PTAs, the Farmington Hills softball team, and North Congregational Church Youth Fellowship. 

In addition, $1.25 from each ticket goes to the Farmington Youth Assistance summer camp, Camp Riley. The remaining $1.25 supports the Foundation’s grant program, which awards grants to organizations that serve Farmington and Farmington Hills.
