Worried About Paying for College? Attend This Farmington Hills Event

Learn about 'College Financing Realities' Oct. 8 at the Costick Center.

Gain valuable insights about how to pay for college at “College Financing Realities”, held Oct. 8 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m., at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills.

Sponsored by the Farmington Hills/Farmington Commission on Children, Youth & Families (CYF), the event is open to all parents of middle school through high school students who are exploring options for college financing.

Parents who attend “College Financing Realities” should first attend the annual College Night on Oct. 2, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Schoolcraft College in the VisTaTech Center Building on the Livonia campus at 18600 Haggerty Road. More than 80 colleges and universities from across the United States will be represented at this free event that will provide a broad overview of college options.

At “College Financing Realities” on October 8, a group of financial aid specialists from a public university, a private university, and a community college will address how to pay for college through loans, grants, and scholarships. Topics will include:

  • How to access financial aid resources
  • Realistic expectations about receiving scholarships
  • Tuition costs
  • Types of loans available
  • Work-study programs
