Downtown Fenton Streetscape Update - July 31

Stay in the know about the Fenton Streetscape 2015 at FentonMomentum.com

FENTON MI- Paving will occur on Monday August 3rd on Mill Street, Adelaide Street at Mill and Ellen Street between LeRoy and Walnut. As a result, Mill Street will remain closed until Monday. Post Office Access will be from LeRoy Street.

On Monday, Adelaide will be closed to through traffic between Shiawassee and Caroline. The northbound Adelaide detour will be through the construction on Leroy St., while the southbound detour will be on Fenway Dr. There will be access available on either side of the construction for people who need to get to their business or homes, however, they will not be able to drive through the intersection. Also on Monday, Ellen Street between LeRoy Street and Walnut and the intersection of Walnut and Ellen Street will be closed for paving.

The duration of these closures should be for Monday only.

Sidewalk pouring and brickwork will continue in the current construction zone next week.

Beginning August 10th, the project will shift north on LeRoy Street from Ellen Street to Caroline. Work will be completed only in that area and traffic will be closed on LeRoy between Ellen and Caroline until approximately September 3, 2015. However, the road surface on LeRoy will be milled from Ellen to Silver Lake Road on August 10th. Northbound and southbound traffic will continue on LeRoy between Silver Lake Road and Caroline. Caroline Street will remain open for travel. Once the bricklayers have completed their work in the current construction zone, two way traffic will resume on LeRoy between Elizabeth and Ellen Street and Shiawassee Avenue between Adelaide and LeRoy.Attached is a map showing this traffic pattern.

After the work is completed on LeRoy between Ellen and Caroline, the project will shift north on LeRoy between Caroline and Silver Lake Road. LeRoy Street in that area will be closed during that construction period. Once that is completed, work will continue on LeRoy Street between Silver Lake Road and Second Street. Champagne-Marx will then work on Caroline Street and River Street in the fall. As the project continues more detailed information will be provided.

For the upcoming LeRoy Street closures, access will be available to the Municipal Parking Lots on Caroline Street for the parking lot next to the Fenton Community and Cultural Center. There will also be access to the municipal parking lots near the Cornerstone Building on Walnut Street.

Champagne-Marx has observed that people are walking inside areas that are barricaded, mainly where concrete is being poured. We have had instances where people have walked (in areas that are barricaded) on concrete that is curing and it affects the overall look of the concrete. If possible, could merchants in the construction area please inform their customers of this also. We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

As always, please be safe and mindful of your surroundings in the construction zone. If you have questions please free to email streetscape2015@cityoffenton.org.
