“A lot of people just want to sell pieces they bought that are not popular anymore,” Williams said. “Customers sell a lot of yellow gold because it’s out of style.”

He added white gold or platinum is the most popular and valued nowadays.

With pure gold valued at over $1,500 dollars an ounce, Williams said now is the time to sell.

“I buy everything,” he said.

Solid Gold buys older coins, and explained that American and Canadian coins pre-1964 are valuable because the coins contain a high content of silver, and can net a customer up to 20 times the face value of the coin.

Some of the items sold to Solid Gold are kept in the showroom for sale. Items for sale include turquoise and antique rings and other one-of-a-kind finds. Also available for purchase are diamond wedding rings, bracelets and necklaces.

One such piece a customer will find in the store is a sterling silver necklace that normally retails for over $300, but is listed in the showroom for $50 . Or a Tahitian pink pearl ring with diamonds and white gold that includes paperwork ensuring authenticity.

“My merchandise retails for much more than the price you will find in my store,” Williams said.

If you’re in the market to purchase a special type of jewelry, Williams said come on in and see him. Since the staff comes across a variety of merchandise, if there is a particular style or piece a customer is looking for, the customer can let staff know and they will keep a watchful eye out for a piece that matches.

Williams started his first Solid Gold business in Chesaning. Solid Gold’s Fenton location made its debut in May 2011. Williams also has three stores in Louisville, Kentucky that he owns with his parents Dan and Linda who reside in Kentucky.  The two stores in Michigan he owns and operates alone.

So, if you are looking for a special piece of jewelry, or need extra cash come on in and see Danny or Manager Lindsay Kendall.

Williams welcomes everyone to Solid Gold Jewelers to get the best deal around.
