Ferndale Police Release Name of Victim Strangled in Murder-Suicide
The victim got a restraining order against her killer last year.

FERNDALE, MI — Police have identified the Ferndale woman who was killed Sunday in a murder-suicide as Amy Brede, 39, of Ferndale, The Detroit News reported.
Police discovered Brede’s body about 5 a.m. Sunday after they were notified by a relative of Matthew Aaron Bush, 36, that he had left a phone message saying that he had strangled and killed Brede in the backyard of her home on West Marshall Street and planned to kill himself.
After discovering the body, police went to Bush’s home in Hazel Park and found him dead of an apparent drug overdose. He had said in the voicemail that he had taken a large quantity of drugs, according to a Sunday news release.

Brede had a restraining order against Bush for about a year, police said.
The two weren't a romantic couple, but Bush was “angry and jealous he didn’t have more of a relationship” with Breda, Ferndale Police Lt. William Wilson told The Daily Tribune.

“We’re still investigating, but it looks as though he thought they had more of a relationship, even though she had a boyfriend,” Wilson said.
Wilson told the newspaper it's unclear if the two had ever dated.
