Ferndale Tigers, Red Sox Head to Playoffs

The boys baseball teams have had a great season, says Coach Jim Michalak.

The Ferndale Tigers and the Ferndale Red Sox boys baseball teams have both had great seasons so far, says Coach Jim Michalak.

The teams are both comprised of 13- and 14-year-olds.

The Tigers are undefeated 8-0 and the Red Sox are in second place in the league heading into the playoffs. The first playoff game will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 at .

The winners will play Aug. 2 for the championship.

Michalak, who serves as coach along with Jim Sweeney, called the teams an "amazing group of boys."

"A real team," he said. "All the players truly like each other and root for each other. I am lucky to be able to coach them."
