Good News, Bad News with Ferndale Poll Locations

Legislation pending in Lansing could cancel plan to reduce wait times at Ferndale polling locations.

FERNDALE, MI – Some good Ferndale officials hoped to give voters could be negated by legislation pending at the Capitol in Lansing to eliminate straight-party voting.

Ferndale City Clerk Marne McGrath said the city plans to increase the number of precincts to reduce wait times at polls, but if the straight-party legislation is approved, some of the advantages could be lost as voters spend more time marking their ballots.

Ferndale lost four polling locations in Ferndale and Hazel Park school redistricting that closed four school buildings, The Daily Tribune reports.

New voter ID cards with updated precinct and poll locations will be mailed to residents next month, and the maps and other information will be shared in the January newsletter.
