Grandmother Allegedly Pulls Rifle on Grandson in Dispute Over Water Bill
Police say woman accused 15- and 22-year-old grandsons of running up $1,000 in water charges.

(Originally published on Dec. 14) FERNDALE, MI — A frantic Ferndale 15-year-old made a 911 police about 4 p.m. Sunday and said his grandmother had pulled a gun on him, apparently in a dispute over a $1,000 water bill, The Detroit News reported. Ferndale police said the Jaclynn Dorthea Wedlow, 66, told the 15-year-old to get his brother out of the shower, and if they didn't leave, they'd get their "heads blown off."
Police said Wedlow denied she had pointed the gun at her grandson, and said she couldn't have because she was carrying a microwave. Police found the microwave she had referenced in a search of her bedroom, but also something that "appeared to be a rifle" wrapped in a blanket or tarp, Ferndale Police Sgt. Baron Brown told the newspaper.
Wedlow was arraigned in Ferndale's 43rd District Court on charges of felonious assault and domestic violence. The judge gave her a $1,500 personal bond and ordered her to stay away from the home and avoid contact with the 15-year-old.
