Ferndale's UHS Students Can Now Use GoKid Carpooling App (oaklandcounty115.com) — Families with students at Ferndale's University High School will soon be able to coordinate school carpools through the new GoKid app, launching August 27. Ferndale Public Schools hopes the secure, family-only platform will ease transportation challenges, cut absenteeism, and strengthen connections among UHS families, with registration details coming directly from the district.

Students 'Gain Real-Life Experience Through Drone' Apprenticeship Program (wnylabortoday.com) — Ferndale Public Schools students are earning certifications, wages, and national-level recognition through a hands-on Drone Apprenticeship Program. More than 30 middle and high schoolers logged over 160–200 training hours, built drones, raced competitively, and gained technical and data analytics skills that district leaders say connect classroom learning to real careers.
3. Sterling Heights sets Flock vote for second meeting in October (macombdaily.com) — Sterling Heights will vote in October on whether to keep or cancel its Flock Safety license-plate camera system, amid growing privacy concerns and debate over data sharing. The story notes that Ferndale is among several Southeast Michigan communities that have already ended their Flock contracts, highlighting a broader regional shift on surveillance technology.
4. Rochester Approves Downtown Social District for Outdoor Drinking and Shopping (wrif.com) — Ferndale is highlighted as one of several Oakland County cities already using a downtown social district, as Rochester just approved its own outdoor drinking-and-shopping zone. The measure lets patrons carry specially marked to-go drinks between participating businesses during set weekend hours.
