Yes, according to officials at a Michigan high school who kicked Mireya Briceno out of her senior prom last weekend, WXMI-TV reports.
The Muskegon High School policy for prom dresses, in place for about five years, prohibits any that show the midriff, including those that expose it through sheer fabric.

Connie Briceno, of Muskegon, said she and her daughter went through the rules, and thought the $300 dress met the policy.
βWhen you look in the mirror, there should be no skin showing around the midriff area,β she told the TV station. βWhen her arms were down, you couldnβt see any skin.β
So off to the prom Mireya went.
βI felt she was classy and elegant,β Connie Briceno told The Muskegon Chronicle/MLive.com. βShe was perfect.β
When school officials asked Mireya to stand up and twirl around, βthey simply told her, βYouβre in violation. You need to go home,ββ said Connie Briceno.
Her daughter left the prom without incident.
βShe called me from the parking lot,β Connie Briceno said. βShe got in her car and started crying.β

Muskegon High School Principal Brad Perkins said two other girls were sent home for wearing dresses that violated the policy, but returned in dresses that didnβt violate the policy.
βI feel bad (Mireya) wasnβt able to make it back into the prom,β he told The Muskegon Chronicle.
Perkins said students are well aware of the rules. A video explaining them played on a continuous loop in the media center and his office in the days leading up to the prom, and students were required to sign a form acknowledging they understood the rules before purchasing prom tickets.
LETβS TALK ABOUT THIS:
- Do you think this dress is too revealing? What rules β if any β should govern what girls wear to prom? Do you have any other concerns about such policies?
Perkins declined to comment on photos that reportedly showed girls who were allowed to stay in dresses that exposed their midriffs, the TV station said.
βWhat would be the purpose of looking in the past?β he said, adding that he stands behind the policy.
Mireya will go to her boyfriendβs prom at Reeths-Puffer High School, also in Muskegon, on May 9, but she will wear a different dress.
