Vote Now: Ferndale Athlete of the Winter Season

Vote from a list of very deserving candidates on who should be named the Patch Athlete of the Season for Ferndale.

Ferndale had a lot of great performances this season. We want to hear from our readers which one they thought was the best.

Be sure to vote by 9 p.m. Friday, April 13. Final results will be posted on Monday, April 16.

Noah Reiter; Sr. Hockey – Noah Reiter was the first player from Ferndale to join the Berkley-Ferndale unified team last year and was an integral part of the team’s success. In 22 games, he scored 12 goals and had 16 assists. He was fourth on the team with 28 points. He helped Berkley-Ferndale to a 20-2-2 overall record and an Oakland Activities Association White championship. 

Nate Stepney; Sr. Basketball – Nate Stepney helped the Eagles capture its first district title since 2001 this season. He was an honorable mention on the AP All-State Class B First Team. During the regular season, he was the team’s leading scorer with 17 points per game. He also averaged six rebounds and three assists a game.

Janecia Jenkins; Sr. Basketball – Janecia Jenkins led her team in rebounds and blocks for the second straight year. Her presence in the post helped the Eagles win their

Chevez Farris; Sr. Wrestling – In his third appearance at the individual state finals, Chevez Farris was the He lost to St. John’s Taylor Massa, who finished his entire high school career undefeated and a four-time champion, in the finals. On the season, Farris finished with a terrific 43-3 record. He won an individual district and regional title on his way to the state finals.

Jordan Ellis; Sr. Basketball – Jordan Ellis ran the offense for the Eagles boys basketball team. The point guard averaged over 10 points and five assists per game. He also was one of the team’s top 3-point shooters and defenders.

Anthony Martin; Soph. Basketball – Anthony Martin helped lead University High School to its second district title game in five seasons. The sophomore averaged nearly a double-double a game for the Eagles, putting up over 10 points a game and grabbing close to 10 boards a night.
