Taboon of Flint to reopen after passing re-inspection for pest problem (mlive.com) — A Flint Township restaurant, Taboon of Flint, has been cleared by the Genesee County Health Department to reopen after a pest infestation led to weeks of closure. Inspectors report the facility has been thoroughly cleaned, no pests were observed, and ongoing pest control is required, with the restaurant set to reopen at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.
   

2. Law enforcement ramps up presence for Crim Festival of Races through 'Operation Arrowhead' (wnem.com) — Law enforcement is stepping up its presence in downtown Flint this weekend for the Crim Festival of Races through Operation Arrowhead, a county task force that backs up Flint police and UM-Flint officers. Deputies plan visible patrols, community engagement, and crime prevention after a recent shooting, urging visitors to stay alert as the Crim Expo, Michigan Mile, and main races get underway.
   

3. Building Flint's future: new high school project and academic renewal initiatives in Flint Community Schools (theflintcouriernews.com) — Flint Community Schools is moving ahead with a new high school planned to open in the 2028–29 year while launching aggressive efforts to boost test scores and enrollment. District leaders describe new consultants, state funding for demolishing vacant buildings, and partnerships with groups like Educare Flint and the Mott Foundation, stressing that stronger academics are key to avoiding state intervention.
   

4. Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band Coming To The Machine Shop In Flint (wfnt.com) — A Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Rumours ATL, is headed to The Machine Shop in Flint for the venue's first-ever Fleetwood Mac tribute show this November. Tickets are $20 and go on sale Friday, with multiple purchase options in and around Dort Highway. The show is 18-and-up, so bring valid ID if you plan to go.
