(flintbeat.com) — Flint kids and teens can now apply for $1,926 Youth Choice Awards grants to fund projects that support their schools and neighborhoods, with applications due Oct. 9, 2026. The Mott Foundation has already backed mentoring, arts, mental health and youth business ideas, and wants more student-led proposals from across Flint.

Allegiant adding new nonstop routes from Flint to four Florida cities (mlive.com) — New year-round Allegiant flights from Flint's Bishop Airport to Orlando and Fort Myers start in February 2027, with added service to Sarasota and St. Pete-Clearwater. With categories ranging from small business and minority-owned enterprises to hospitality and young leaders, the program spotlights people and organizations strengthening Flint, culminating in a November 4 gala at the FIM Capitol Theatre.
4. Back to the Bricks 2026: Flint's Woodward Dream Cruise Alternative (hotrod.com) — Back to the Bricks 2026 is gearing up to turn downtown Flint's brick streets into a massive classic-car showcase, drawing more than 1,500 vehicles and tens of thousands of visitors. The piece highlights Flint's deep automotive roots—from GM's founding to the first Corvette—and explains why this homegrown cruise has become a relaxed, crowd-pleasing alternative to the Woodward Dream Cruise.
