“There was no knock-down, drag-out battle here, but hands were placed on each other, or hands were placed. That takes it from the level of a verbal assault to a physical assault,” Jensen said, according to a report on CBS Detroit/WWJ. “When that occurs, we don’t make the determination, ‘Oh, there’s no scratches or cuts or blood,’ we make the arrest based upon the physical assault.”

Alcohol was involved in the confrontation between Ford and his wife, the former Cynthia Layne Neskow, who called police around 11:30 p.m. Monday after he reportedly took her phone away, but gave it back so she could call police, according to the Detroit Free Press.
