Edsel and Eleanor Ford Mansion Makes List of National Historic Places
Grosse Pointe Shores mansion joins Henry Ford's home and Ernest Hemingway's cottage. Honor announced on Edsel and Eleanor's anniversary.

GROSSE POINTE SHORES, MI — The Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores has ben named a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service, the Detroit Free Press reported. The 86-acre estate at 1100 Lakeshore Drive has the dual appeal of not only of being the home of automobile pioneer Henry Ford's son but also one co-designed by Edsel Ford and legendary architect Albert Kahn, one of Detroit's signature architects at the time, Ford House President Kathleen Mullins told the Free Press. Now operated a a museum with valuable art collection that at one time included a painting that was sold to a pivate collector for $100 million, the Ford House is the 42nd Michigan site to be named a National Historic Landmark.
