Grosse Pointe Teens Request Plea Deal In Vandalism Case

Three Grosse Pointe Woods teens accused of spray-painting obscenities on two Detroit buildings were arraigned in Wayne Court on Monday.

Prosecutors say the teens defaced two buildings on June 22: one on Michigan Avenue and the other in the 1100 block of Griswold, The Detroit News reports.

Isabella Mary Meteer,18, is charged with one count of malicious destruction of a building, while Mackenzie Lynn Snitgen and Mary Elizabeth Harder, both 17 years old, are facing a five-year maximum penalty.

“We’re trying to see if there’s something we can do to negotiate with prosecutors,” Eric Goze, Harder’s attorney, said. “In any criminal case, you don’t know what will happen, so we have to prepare for trial in case things go south.”

Dan Gilbert, owner of a property on Woodward that shares an alley with one of the vandalized buildings, called the teens “degenerates” and “clowns.”

Goze said, “we’re hoping to work out something so we can restore these girls’ reputations.”
