Man Allegedly Pays Bail With $300 and Cocaine

A Michigan man faced a conundrum many an alleged criminal has probably faced: Count out the money or hold on to the drugs?

A southeast Michigan man had a rotten day Saturday just trying to help out a friend.

Roy Norton, 51, of Roseville, handed over three $100 bills to bail out a buddy in police custody on drunken driving charges – and along with the cash, Clinton Township police alleged in a statement, a packet of cocaine and one of the easier drug investigations they’ve ever encountered.

“The bail was $300 and he presented three $100 bills to the station officer,” police Lt. Eric Reincke told The Detroit News. “When he pulled out the cash, there was a small yellow baggie between the bills. When the officer asked what it was, the man replied that it was ‘just garbage.’ ”
