NEW Rental Changes in Grosse Pointe Park.

Love it or hate it the new rental ordinance in Grosse Pointe Park has passed and takes effect immediately.  Not a lot will change in the day to day operations of rental owners in the Park but there are key changes that everyone will need to be aware of and follow closely.

1.       Certificate Of Occupancy – Now required every two years instead of three. The price for a certificate on a two family dwelling lowers from $165 to $110 and the four family certificate lowers from $245 to $165.00. We will not be paying more for our C of O.

2.       Rental owners must now obtain a license to do business with the city. The cost for the license is $10 and is required to be completed; the city has waived the $10 fee for the 2014 year.

3.       Each and every rental unit MUST be registered with the city. This process will replace the yearly park pass forms. Park owners, or their agents, will receive registration information in late 2014 for the year 2015. The Park requires knowledge of who is living in your rental unit.

4.       A background check must be performed on any potential tenant above the age of 18. This is not required for tenants currently residing in your property.

5.       Required background checks must be submitted to the city upon request.
