Reward Boosted to $163,000 in Grosse Pointe Farms Teen's Murder

"We need people to speak up ...," family member says. "... Of we don't have a safe Detroit, we won't have a safe suburbs and vice versa."

The reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the killer of Paige Stalker, 16, last December has increased another $50,000 to $163,000

The announcement was made at a news conference Friday, The Detroit News reports.

“It is our hope that the overwhelming generosity of these private donors will spawn an outpouring of support that aid in bringing the person(s) responsible for this heinous crime to justice, and provide closure to a grieving family,” Detroit Crime Commission Executive Director Andy Arena said.

The Grosse Pointe Farms teen was killed in a spray of gunfire on Dec. 22 while she and four others were sitting in a car parked near Charlevoix and Philip. Three others were injured.

Dave Lawrence, Stalker’s grandfather, thanked the anonymous donors and Crime Stoppers, which is offering $12,500 of the reward money.

“In some ways, it’s a shame that people have to be paid to do the right thing, but sometimes that’s the way it is,” he said. ?We need people to speak up about this and other cases. I tell people if we don’t have a safe Detroit, we won’t have a safe suburbs and vice versa.”
