September GOP Forum to Feature Statewide Candidate Double Header

The 7:30 p.m. event will be held at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, Grosse Pointe Farms.

Judge Redford is a candidate for Michigan Supreme Court, and Maria Carl is running for the State Board of Education.

“We are honored to have two statewide candidates for our fall kickoff meeting,” said club chairman Ken Chadwell.

“We invite anyone interested in good government to come hear these candidates make a brief presentation, before opening the floor for questions from the audience,” Chadwell said.

Judge Redford is chief judge pro tempore of the 17th Circuit Court (Kent County) and served as commanding officer of the Navy Reserve trial judiciary from 2009 to 2011.

He is a 1985 graduate of University of Detroit Mercy Law School

Maria Carl is a Republican candidate for the State Board of Education. She holds a Master of Arts in secondary education and has extensive classroom experience.

Carl is a former child development instructor for Baker College and currently owns a successful educational instruction firm.

She has extensive volunteer and management experience, and since 2003 she has served as president and board member of Walton Charter Academy.

Carl is a board member of Heartfelt Family Ministries which counsels women abducted via human trafficking and those dealing with post-abortive struggles.

She lives in Macomb Township and is the widow of the late senator Doug Carl.
