Strong pitching from Thaddeus Cosens and Nick Lemieur, plus big bats from several Rams, led the way. The roundup also spotlights recent performances from Petoskey, Charlevoix, Boyne City, and area track athletes.

2. Northwest Michigan Health Department offers free flood clean-up supplies (9and10news.com) — Harbor Springs residents in flood-affected areas can pick up free clean‑up supply buckets at the Health Department office on Harbor‑Petoskey Road in Emmet County, while supplies last. The buckets include cleaners, gloves, masks, and other basics to help with recovery, and are limited to one per household. Charlevoix locations open April 23, with more details available from the Health Department.

3. Emmet County officials seek closure of Crooked River, watercrafts asked to stay away (upnorthlive.com) — Emmet County officials are urging residents, including those near Harbor Springs, to stay off the Crooked River and obey remaining road closures as historic flooding continues to pose safety risks. Locals can get free flood debris vouchers for disposal at the Harbor Springs Drop Off Center and are encouraged to document and report property damage promptly so the county can better coordinate aid and recovery resources.

4. Petoskey committed to saving access to ‘Miracle Mile' trail section (bridgemi.com) — Public access to the Little Traverse Wheelway, which links Harbor Springs to Charlevoix, is at stake as Petoskey leaders refuse to give up key trail easements. After a costly 2020 collapse along the “Miracle Mile” section, the city council rejected a settlement that could have surrendered access, instead recommitting to finding a way to preserve and eventually repair the route.

5. North Central Michigan College to host nurse pinning, commencement ceremonies May 8 (9and10news.com) — A Harbor Springs resident, longtime tribal leader Frank Ettawageshik, will deliver the May 8 commencement address at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey, highlighting decades of regional public service. The college will also honor former trustee Phil Millard with an honorary degree and celebrate nearly 300 graduates, including 26 new nurses recognized at a pinning ceremony earlier that afternoon.
