Letter to the Editor: Community Shows its Generosity in 'Triple Money Monday'

Wow! We’ve been using that word a lot lately. It’s surreal to think about what took place on Monday through the Livingston County United Way’s on Dec. 19.

Triple Money Monday has to be the biggest one-day fundraising event in the history of Livingston County. We’re so proud to be a part a community that cares so much. Livingston County residents stepped up to help in a big way. Thank you for your trust in our organization and supporting those we serve.

We are grateful for the special donors who made Triple Money Monday a reality. Thank you to our friends at the Ted and Jane Von Voigtlander Foundation, and our two additional donors who wish to remain anonymous. These generous people gave our community something to strive for, a challenge to help others – and we did it working together.

Livingston County United Way is not just the staff or board of directors: United Way is the volunteers who put in numerous hours to help others in our community, it’s the people in our community who ‘dig deep’ and care so much, and it’s the various partner agencies and collaborations leveraging donated dollars to maximize every single dollar donated.

Special thank you to all our great media partners for their tremendous coverage.

We also appreciate the Brighton, and Howell Chambers of Commerce, county-wide Citizens Banks, Krug Ford, and Professional Concepts Insurance Agency for so willingly partnering as donation locations. Thanks also to Santa and Olinik Family McDonald’s. You all helped to spread holiday cheer for many.

As promised, the contributions from Triple Money Monday will directly support local families who need food, shelter, utility assistance and other basics.
