Oceola Outdoor Recreational Complex: A Family-Friendly Park with Playgrounds, Pickleball & More (littleguidedetroit.com) — Families in Howell can enjoy two age-friendly playgrounds, a paved Storybook Walk, and pickleball courts at the Oceola Outdoor Recreational Complex on North Latson Road. With bathrooms, ample parking, and plenty of open space, it's an easy local spot for kids to burn energy, mix reading with walking, and for adults to squeeze in a casual game or relaxed stroll.

Developers will need to wait another six months for rezoning in Genoa (livingstondaily.com) — Genoa Township has extended its moratorium on rezoning applications for another six months, delaying projects like a proposed 7 Brew drive-thru near Howell while officials refine their master plan survey. Township leaders say they've received strong resident feedback, especially about South Latson Road development, and stress this is the final extension allowed under local ordinance.
   

3. Howell man arraigned for allegedly threatening circuit court judge (annarbortimes.com) — A Howell man has been charged with making terroristic threats after allegedly texting plans to kill a circuit court judge and describing bomb-making materials, according to the Michigan Attorney General. He was arraigned Wednesday in 53rd District Court and faces serious felony counts, while state officials urge Howell and other residents to promptly report similar threats or suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
   

4. Trump is gutting the Endangered Species Act. These 10 species show what's at stake. (grist.org) — Howell is singled out as part of the shrinking wetland habitat for the threatened eastern massasauga rattlesnake, which could see fewer protections under recent changes to the Endangered Species Act. The piece explains how federal rollbacks on habitat and "take" rules may leave more responsibility to Michigan and could affect wildlife near local construction, pipelines, and development.
