Hartland Salon Prepares for Prom Season

The countdown for Prom season has begun and according to Tina Corcoran at Salon 3, now is the time to reserve your hair appointment, especially for those coveted time slots.

"Everyone wants that time between 1 and 2," she said.

The Hartland High School Prom is scheduled for Friday, May 10, according to the school's website.

During last year's Prom season, Salon 3 stylist Sheri Pryde did the hair for at least eight clients and calls the day a "party" filled with groups of excited girls, plenty of make-up and loads of hair spray.

"By the time we're done everything is covered with hair spray," she said laughing. "Everything is sticky, the floor, everything. We just keep spraying and spraying."

While many of the female Prom-goers are accompanied by their mothers, Pryde said she has never seen a dad in the salon on Prom day, but says that isn't a big surprise considering the "girlie" atmosphere of the day.

"They (students) talk about their plans for the night, dinner reservations, who's going with who," Pryde said. "That kind of stuff."

While braids was the big trend for the 2012 season, this year, Pryde says she is anticipating lots of requests for the half-up, half-down style and loose curls. 

"The style really needs to match the dress though," Pryde said.
