With Accelerate Jackson County now managing daily land bank operations, leaders hope to speed neighborhood revitalization, attract investment, and better support residents and businesses in Jackson's communities.
   

2. 35-year-old man arrested in fatal Jackson County hit-and-run (fox47news.com) — A 35-year-old Charlotte man has been arrested in connection with a Sept. 15 hit-and-run that killed 58-year-old Eric Estey of Jackson in Blackman Township. Investigators used surveillance and license-plate cameras to identify the suspect vehicle, and the driver is now jailed in Jackson County on a failure-to-stop charge, with a probable cause hearing set for Oct. 9.
   

3. Michigan Deer Archery Season Begins Thursday, Oct. 1: What Hunters Need to Know (wowo.com) — Hunters in and around Jackson can head into the woods today as Michigan's archery deer season opens and runs through Nov. 14. State wildlife officials are urging local hunters to wear plenty of hunter orange, use full-body harnesses in tree stands, and carefully raise unloaded crossbows to stay safe while enjoying the fall tradition.
