County reverses co-pay plan for employee weight-loss drugs, trimming costs (mlive.com) — Kalamazoo County has voted to end health-plan coverage of GLP-1 drugs when used strictly for weight loss starting in 2027, while keeping them covered for diabetes. The move avoids losing manufacturer rebates, is projected to save about $500,000 a year, and will be paired with higher county contributions to employee Health Savings Accounts to help offset new out-of-pocket costs.

5. Kalamazoo man hospitalized after two-vehicle crash on M-43 (wwmt.com) — A 31-year-old Kalamazoo man was seriously injured early Friday when his car crossed the center line on M-43 in Almena Township and sideswiped a delivery truck, closing the highway in both directions. Fire crews extricated him from the vehicle and he was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the truck driver was unhurt and alcohol is not suspected.
