Today's riddle: What do you get when you cross an angry cow with an angry sheep? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• 'They're just going too fast': New e-bike rules being discussed in Lowell (fox17online.com) — Lowell officials are weighing new rules for e-bikes after downtown business owners raised safety concerns about fast riders weaving through pedestrians on city sidewalks. At a recent council meeting at Lowell Middle School, leaders discussed age limits, speed caps, and where e-bikes could operate, with violations potentially bringing $100 fines. The draft ordinance will be revised with resident feedback and revisited in October.
• Mark Anderson: 'I did what was best for the township.' (lowellsfirstlook.com) — Lowell Charter Township trustee Mark Anderson is defending his record as he faces criticism over a proposed Microsoft-linked data center, his landscaping work for the township, and a recall effort tied to a failed moratorium vote. He insists he's gained little personally, notes he lives across from the proposed site, and says he's waiting for more information before deciding on the project. Anderson argues poor communication from the developer fueled public anger and says he's still willing to talk one-on-one with residents.
• The ABCs of Lowell History: W is for War (lowellsfirstlook.com) — Lowell history buffs can dive into the dramatic 1874 "Flat River War," when rival logging companies clashed so intensely that the Grand Rapids Guard was sent in by the governor. The Lowell Area Historical Museum's online series explains how massive log drives once filled the Flat River from Six Lakes to Lowell and how tensions eventually cooled. It's a vivid glimpse into the region's logging-era past.
