1 Killed In Fiery Crash Outside Macomb County Courthouse: Police
Police were working to determine if the vehicle was involved in a drag race on Gratiot Avenue.
MOUNT CLEMENS, MI — A driver was killed Wednesday in a fiery crash outside a Macomb County court building, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
Police said the driver was speeding in an SUV on Gratiot Avenue near Cass Avenue in Downtown Mount Clemens at 7:20 p.m. when they lost control and the SUV slammed into a wall outside the courthouse.
The SUV then exploded upon impact and caught fire, police said.

Police said the driver was killed in the crash. Police did not identify the driver and said no one else was inside the SUV.
Witnesses told police they saw the SUV speeding on Gratiot Avenue. Police were working to determine if the SUV was involved in a drag race on Gratiot Avenue.

No further details were released by police.
Officials closed Gratiot Avenue near Market Street in Downtown Mount Clemens Wednesday afternoon and night while police were investigating. The road has since reopened.
Police were still investigating the crash.
