Bold Hues: Color Blocking and Bold Clothing
One of the top fashion trends for spring 2012 is color. Whether you like pastels or bright shades, styling this trend is easier than ever through color blocking and colored denim.

As the weather warms up, the amount of color outside increases. The grass turns green, flowers are in bloom and people are wearing colorful clothing. But this season, trying to decide the main shade of an outfit won’t be an issue.
While color trends range from pastels to bold hues, different shades are one of the top ways to express yourself.
One of this spring’s most popular fashion trends is color-blocking. Pairing two to three brightly-hued items in an outfit makes a big statement to stand out and stay stylish in a crowd.

Some of this season’s top shades are turquoise, orangey reds, minty greens, lilac and fuchsia.
Pair together your favorite colors to complement your skin tone and brighten any outfit. A mint green cropped jacket works well with a peach, lacy tank underneath. If you have a favorite lilac top, wear it with turquoise jeans for a more concentrated color look.

Bold shades of denim are a great way for young men and women to color block. Stores like Hollister, Pac Sun and Forever 21 carry reasonably-priced colored denim.
I recently covered the trend of colored denim on campus for the Oakland Post. Students said that colored denim “adds a little something to an outfit.”
For girls, shades like mint-green, pale yellow, white and pinky peach are great for spring. Young men can find burnt reds, rusty orange, dark blue and green denim to express themselves through hues.
So whether it’s sunny or cloudy, all of the color trends this season give a wearer to option to brighten their day through fashion.
