HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – L’Anse Creuse High School is proud to be the first school launching a partnership with the Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation, Inc (CJJRF). The partnership will include a football camp, health fair, educational sessions, grooming and etiquette, and physical fitness.
CJJRF is a non-profit organization founded in 2008 by Calvin Johnson Jr, All-Pro NFL wide receiver of the Detroit Lions. The mission of the Foundation is to change the mindset of youth from struggle to survival, from poor self-esteem to excitement of life, from dependent thinking to goal setting
self-sufficiency, and from hopelessness to empowerment. The Foundation emphasizes that these goals can be achieved though education, leadership training, football camps, mentorships, student scholarships, and financial assistance to community organizations.
“Our main goal is to assist youth with limited financial resources ‘catch’ their dreams on and off the field,” said Johnson. “Therefore, providing opportunities that will impact the lives of youth and allow them to rise out of seemingly difficult situations and mature into productive members of society.”
L’Anse Creuse High School Athletic Director, Orlando Medina, is thrilled to work with the Foundation. “Anytime you have an opportunity to impact the lives of students through education, health, and sports it's exciting,” said Medina. “The program’s focus on shaping students into quality citizens makes the program even more enticing. ‘Catching Dreams,’ that's what it's all about.”
L’Anse Creuse High School is located at 38495 L’Anse Creuse Road. For more information, please contact Orlando Medina at (586)783-6400 ext. 1203 or at medinor@lc-ps.org.
