College financial aid workshop Feb. 27 at Baker College of Clinton Township

College-bound students, parents to receive help completing the FAFSA required for financial aid. Five attendees to each win $1K scholarship.

Baker College of Clinton Township will hold its 2016 Financial Aid Workshop, 9:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 27. The event is designed to help potential college-bound students and their parents understand and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The FAFSA determines the eligibility of college students for annual federal student financial aid, including grants, loans and work-study funds.

The workshop is free of charge and open to all prospective college students, whether or not they have identified their colleges of choice. Reservations must be received no later than Wednesday, Feb. 24, however, early reservations are encouraged, as seating is limited.

There will be a drawing for five attendees to each receive a $1,000 scholarship to Baker College of Clinton Township.

9:30-10 a.m. Check-in, light breakfast

10-11:30 a.m. Financial aid presentation

11:30 a.m.-noon Optional individual advising and campus tours

Financial aid officers will conduct the workshop, providing a profile and explanation of the various types of financial aid available to students. Detailed instructions for completing the online financial aid form will be part of the workshop. Admissions advisors will also be available to answer questions and offer information about Baker College of Clinton Township.

Parents and students are encouraged to bring the following information, if available: 2015 U.S. federal tax forms 1040 and W-2, and 2015 untaxed income amounts (e.g., Aid to Dependent Children, Social Security, child support, etc.).
