Do You PROMise? Lutheran North Students Urge Peers to Stay Above the Influence
Members of the student group Example tied hundreds of balloons to the cars of upperclassmen Thursday to encourage their peers to enjoy a drug and alcohol-free prom.
If you drove past Thursday you may have noticed each of the cars in the parking lot had one thing in common–a white balloon tied to the sideview mirror.
With prom this Friday, members of the student group, Example, set out to give their peers a last-minute reminder of the "PROMise contract" they signed earlier this week to rise above the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Using a helium tank–and their own lung power when the tank ran out–group members blew up more than a hundred balloons sporting the Example logo that were then tied to students' cars. A note was also attached urging students to, "Strive to be a God-pleasing Example at prom and for the rest of your lives."
