New L’Anse Creuse residents are invited to attend a School Enrollment Fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Frederick V. Pankow Center. It's an open house format that introduces parents and their children to the district. There, they can pick up registration packets, enroll in the school lunch program, learn about preschool options and School Age Child Care (SACC), get free school supplies (while they last), pick out a free book, and get a free haircut, if needed.
“Our goal is to have students enrolled before the first day of school so we can properly assign them to classes,” said Michelle Irwin, senior director for community relations and programs. “We are reaching out to our community to partner with us for this first-time event. To date, we have received donations of goods or services from Meijer in Chesterfield, Kohl’s in Roseville, The Buzz Hair Design, Gleaners, Kerr Albert, Northside Church, Old Navy, SEHI and Prentiss Pointe Apartments.”
Another feature of the school enrollment fair will be a clothing swap. Donations are being accepted for school-age, school appropriate attire from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, at the Pankow Center Commons Area.
