L'Anse Creuse Hoops Clash for a Cure Saturday

When rival L'Anse Creuse high school basketball teams hit the court Saturday, they'll be facing each other, but ultimately playing to defeat a much stronger foe – cancer.

Hosting the third annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, the girls and boys basketball teams of L'Anse Creuse High School and will engage in a marathon of matchups to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

As in past years, all proceeds from the event, including concession, entrance fees, raffles and more, will benefit ACS.

Tickets are $5 each, or $10 to include a pink T-shirt, while supplies last.

The games begin at 10:30 a.m. in the North gym with the freshman boys matchup. The day's game schedule is as follows:

• Freshman girls: 12:15 p.m.
• JV girls: 2:15 p.m.
• JV boys: 4:15 p.m.
• Varsity girls: 6 p.m.
• Varsity boys: 7:30 p.m.

As a reminder of the event's ultimate purpose – fund-raising for a cure – memory boards dedicated to those who lost their battle with cancer, as well as survivor boards for those who have won their fight, or are still battling, will be displayed in the gym during Saturday's games.
