SET SEG Foundation Awards Dakota Students $1,250 to Attend Leadership Camp

This money will supplement the cost for 10 Dakota High School students to attend the Michigan Association of Student Councils/Michigan Association of Honor Societies Summer Leadership Camp.

Their own fundraising efforts combined with a $1,250 award from the SET SEG Educational Foundation will send 10 students to leadership camp at Albion College this summer.

Created in 2005, the SET SEG foundation distributes thousands of dollars in scholarships to Michigan public high schools each year. These scholarships enable students to attend the Michigan Association of Student Councils/Michigan Association of Honor Societies Summer Leadership Camp.

This year, Dakota received $1,250 in scholarship funds, which will help send 10 students to the weeklong camp (July 22-27).

“(The camp) provides training, skills and interacting with over 200 schools across the state of Michigan from the UP, down to the Monroe, Dundee areas,” said Melissa Belanger, student activities director for Dakota. “This is a great opportunity and a wonderful honor. We are very excited.”

Last year, SET SEG scholarship funds helped send both and Eisenhower High School students to the camp.
