Smart 911 Coming to Macomb County
No-cost upgraded service allows residents to give helpful information ahead of time to emergency services.

(Posted Nov. 15, 2016) MACOMB COUNTY, MI — The new Smart 911 system is coming to Macomb County in early 2017, The Macomb Daily reports. Officials say emergency response time will be faster and safer with an enhanced 911 system that gives dispatchers a preloaded snapshot of a family's special needs, including medical conditions, the prescribed drugs they're taking and even the number of pets in a home. “First responders will go into households knowing more about the challenges and happenings and circumstances about that household,” Lt. Gov. Brian Calley of the Macomb County Communications and Technology Center told The Daily. “It will save time with a higher degree of efficiency.”
