Viewfinder: Local Kids Play Life-Size Candyland at CMPL North

The floor of the Clinton-Macomb Public Library North branch's largest meeting room doubled as a life-size Candyland game board Tuesday.

Following a trail of multicolored paper squares, local kids passed through the Lollipop Woods and over the Rainbow Trail Tuesday afternoon during life-size games of Candyland at the .

The "game board," which was built to scale, filled the North branch's largest meeting room as groups of six to 10 children tried their luck against Queen Frostine, Princess Lolly and Lord Licorice.

With the children themselves acting as game pieces, some drew a lucky series of cards and moved across the board quickly, while others were forced to double back again and again, just as they would in the actual board game.

Collecting candy along the trail, each child finished the game with a total of eight candy pieces.

North branch librarians said considering the success of Tuesday's Candyland, patrons could see more life-size board games in the future–Chutes and Ladders and Mouse Trap were offered as possibilities.
