Applications now open to feature your art in Fall Fringe Fest (uppermichiganssource.com) — Local performers now have a chance to apply for stage time at this fall’s Marquette Fringe Fest, set for Oct. 23–24 at Marquette Commons and downtown venues. Organizers aim to showcase diverse, affordable performances so residents of all incomes can experience original local art. Interested artists can find application details on the Marquette Fringe website.
   

2. UPDATE: Investigation starts in contained Richmond Township fire (uppermichiganssource.com) — Fire crews from several townships and the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office quickly contained a mobile home fire Tuesday on County Road MM in Richmond Township. No one was inside, and investigators suspect an electrical issue at a pump house, with a formal fire investigation now underway and state wildlife officials assisting with related grass fires.
   

3. Vehicle engulfed in flames at Negaunee gas station (uppermichiganssource.com) — Emergency crews from Negaunee, Ishpeming, state police and Marquette County are handling a vehicle fire at the Krist gas station in Negaunee, with traffic detoured around Teal Lake Avenue and Baldwin Avenue. Marquette City Police will release more details, and residents should avoid the area while the intersection remains blocked.
   

4. EGLE director backs dam safety reforms, brownfield expansion as budget talks continue (wzmq19.com) — State environmental officials are pushing for major updates to Michigan’s brownfield and dam safety laws, changes that could directly affect redevelopment projects in Marquette and across the U.P. A proposed bill would lift the one-project-per-community cap, helping cities like Marquette tackle multiple contaminated sites, while new dam rules and funding aim to prevent disasters as storms intensify.
