• Whitmer on 2028 presidential aspirations: ‘Never say never' (themanchestermirror.com) — Marshall’s Ford EV battery plant is now expected to open this year, but projected jobs have dropped from 2,500 to 1,700 after a shift toward residential batteries. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer highlighted this project while outlining her final-term priorities, including school funding, road repairs, tax changes, and her cautious “never say never” stance on a 2028 presidential run.
   

• Lawrence Joseph Allen (wlen.com) — Marshall native Lawrence “Larry” Joseph Allen, 70, has passed away, leaving family and friends with many memories of his active, outdoorsy life and generous spirit. Raised in Michigan and Canada, he built a long sales career, cherished 37 years of marriage, and enjoyed retirement projects at home. A memorial service is planned in Tecumseh on July 11.
