📰 News we're reading

• Monroe Flags of Honor display returns to honor veterans (monroenews.com) — A massive field of 500 U.S. flags will return to Monroe later this month, set up near River Raisin National Battlefield Park at North Dixie Highway and East Elm Street. From June 27 through July 8, residents can visit the display and sponsor a flag for $40 to honor a veteran, with a dedication ceremony planned for June 27 and flag pickup on July 9.

• Buy Stephen Colbert's Burnt Michigan TV Show Props on eBay (wgrd.com) — Stephen Colbert just revisited Monroe’s own Only in Monroe, then put surviving props and scripts from the fiery set on eBay to raise money for Monroe Community Media, which runs local public-access TV and radio. Monroe residents can bid now on signed scripts, a show-used mug, and even charred set pieces, with every dollar supporting their hometown media.

• Three local students earn Farm Bureau agriculture scholarships (monroenews.com) — Three Monroe County students from Dundee and Milan have each earned $750 agriculture scholarships from the Monroe County Farm Bureau, supporting their studies in animal science, agribusiness, and agriscience education. The awards, including the Betty Bliss, Dale Lynn Mason, and Young Farmer Memorial scholarships, reflect a long-running local investment of more than $54,000 in future agricultural leaders.
