• A bump in pay (mininggazette.com) — Munising-area residents interested in corrections work could soon see significantly higher starting pay, as new officer recruits at nearby prisons will earn about $10,000 more per year under Michigan’s Safe Prisons Initiative. The increase, from $23.45 to $28.24 an hour, applies to facilities including Alger Correctional Facility, with local hiring events and a new training academy session starting July 20 in Kincheloe.
