Muskegon grad to bring old middle school back to life with homes, sports complex (mlive.com) ā Muskegon city leaders have approved selling the former Steele Middle School site for a $23ā$28 million project that combines 33ā40 new single-family homes with a large indoor sports complex. Led by Muskegon grad Rashard Thrower, the plan could create a regional tournament hub, new community spaces, and potential homeownership opportunities with a community land trust model, starting infrastructure work as soon as late 2026.

Fulfilling a lifelong dream, 72-year-old will graduate from medical school (spokesman.com) ā A 72-year-old new medical school graduate is set to begin a three-year family medicine residency at Trinity Health Medical Center in Muskegon this July, bringing decades of nursing experience to local patients. After training in the Caribbean and across the U.S., she chose west Michigan to finally fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a doctor and hopes to keep practicing as long as possible.

These 140 photos capture high fashion, bold arrivals from Muskegon's 2026 prom āshowāoff' (mlive.com) ā Muskegon High School students turned heads at Saturdayās Great Gatsbyāthemed prom showāoff, arriving in 1920sāinspired gowns, colorful suits, and even a horseādrawn entrance outside the high school. Later that night, an unsanctioned afterparty at a Fruitport Township VFW ended in gunfire that injured several people, prompting Muskegon school officials to stress that the official prom events remained safe and incidentāfree.
