Baker College culinary instructor earns int'l. credential

Paula Recinella has earned the credential of certified hospitality educator. She teaches and manages COURSES restaurant.

Paula Recinella, Baker College of Port Huron’s Culinary Institute of Michigan (CIM) instructor, has earned the credential of certified hospitality educator (CHE). She teaches courses in culinary arts and food and beverage management, and is also manager of COURSES, the CIM-Port Huron’s teaching, fine-dining restaurant and bar.

The CHE credential is designed to enhance and recognize the teaching skills of post-secondary hospitality educators. The internationally recognized certification is offered by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute and endorsed by the American Culinary Federation (ACF), the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education (ICHRIE), and the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA).

Donald R. Torline, Baker College of Port Huron president, said, β€œWe congratulate Chef Recinella for attaining this internationally recognized credential and applaud her for her dedication to culinary education. It is through extraordinary efforts such as Chef Recinella’s that Baker College will continue to offer the highest quality instruction to our students.”

Recinella has more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality and foodservice industry. This includes teaching culinary arts classes at the State University of New York at Delhi and working as a chef, dining room manager and lodging accommodations manager at private and public country clubs, hotels and catering companies. She has also owned and operated a catering company in White Lake and a fine dining restaurant in upstate New York. She joined the CIM-Port Huron in 2012.

The COURSES Restaurant is open three days a week for lunch when classes are in session. The CIM-Port Huron is located at 2000 St. Clair Street, Port Huron.
